Saturday Club.

As you know I have my girls in this Zoom Class called “Saturday Club” from Cottonwood Kids. I know given the Nature of 2020 everyone is like iffy with “another zoom class” but this is like SO DIFFERENT!

I liked the idea that this class wasn’t just a class but had purpose to engage and help create and mold my girls into this inclusive member of society. They learn a new word that has meaning to help mold them into better humans that they hear in story, have discussions and reflect on it. Words they learned so far “Diversity, Inclusion, Allie, Curiosity, Empathy, Emotions, Persistence, Character, Value” I mean like how cute!! They do some sort of craft/activity. (EVERYTHING is mailed to you prior) Break out into these mini groups to further discuss and share their pictures, art, or game. It’s honestly a great learning experience, and the teachers both do a great job at keeping the kids engaged and communicating.

The class is about 1hr 20min and at first I was like this is long. But with the story, conversations, mini groups + back into a bigger group to share and close with meditation its perfect! My girls love sitting in and seeing the familiar faces of @hellobabyboyle kids and who is going to read, Ms Kari or Ms Rend.

When class is over the girls take the card with the weekly word and add it to their door so they can see it. The girls call my parents via FaceTime to tell them all about it and ask them how they will practice it. Hand me their journals so it doesn’t get lost and ask if they can do the class again.

A few weeks ago the girls learned about “allies” and they made allie-ship bracelets, we have visited Michael’s several times so Skye can get new colors and make bracelets for everyone. Things like this are great because it has a lasting impression. They really enjoy the books that are read in class and if we don’t have it ask me to get it on amazon. I laugh because like “OKAY, let me just get it because you HAVE to HAVE it!”

I absolutely recommend this virtual class as it’s not just another class but a great learning experience so your kids, can learn new words, engage with other kids and apply them to daily use.

Thank you Ms Kari + Ms Rend for the great class to start our weekend on the right foot!

xx.
