We are so excited to attend Disney on Ice “Let’s Celebrate!” We use Blossom and Root for almost all our curriculum. For Science, Skye is learning about all things Friction and Momentum in Physics.

There was mention of ice skating so I read ahead and wrote some questions for Skye. My first question for Skye is “what physics forces are in ice skating?” She sort of paused and said because they use their bodies to skate and do jumps. And I was like almost all correct but here is the answer I have for you…
The main forces involved in ice skating are friction and momentum! When used correctly these forces allow the skater to reach high speeds on the ice and allows them to do jumps and otherwise complicated moves.
She smiled and I asked her would she like to go see Disney On Ice and really see “friction and momentum” come to life. She quickly said “YES!” Well we are lucky they are coming to town in a few short weeks down the street from us.
We will be able to watch 14 classic and modern stories in the amazing production with award winning figure skaters, high energy choreography and a breathtaking set! With over 30 songs, we can’t wait to watch “physics” come to life! Nothing better than seeing with your own eyes what you are learning come to life especially when you LOVE disney!
