It’s the best time of the year for all of those starting school. The day you get your new school supplies!!
Since we homeschool I try to make it special with a few new things to start the year! Some useable items, new pencils, things we plan to use for the year, just all around the must haves! As you may know I invested years ago in quality crayons, watercolors and color pencils which we still have and use. So I was sure to add some newer items that have some flexibility for the upcoming year for my 5th and 4th grader.
What do you buy kids who have supplies that last a lifetime, well more supplies, a bigger water cup, more personalized pencils, and ask them what they would like. Both girls asked for a “mini stapler” so they could staple their school papers! The girls also asked me to make them something so I used a pattern from etsy to make them a waldorf inspired “ladybug” using some of my special Liberty of London fabric. This year I grew attached to my Stanley Cup, and have many and my girls named them all. They asked if they could each get one for this school year . So I of course found the ones they wanted and figured well its not just their first day but ours too! So I got Jeff and myself one too!

We included some Lucky Lucky suprise boxes from Grapat which are a favorite toy of ours. Open end play is a huge must the past 6 years we have been homeschooling. These toys come from Spain and are some of the best! Check them out!

Skye is in 5th grade this year so we are using an Erin Condren planner this year. Trying to get her use to jotting down what needs to be completed, fill out a calendar, keep track of library books. Just want her to get use to writing things down as we have minimal technology use with the girls. A lot of people ask how and well thats a post for another day. I also am using Erin Condren Activity Tracker for the girls to each track reading, handwork, test, new things they want to to explore and learn. Erin Condren has been my go to planner for 3 years now and I’m excited for my girls to use the planner with the best paper. They will see they can erase, write, glue, use stickers, markers and whatever they desire and will learn what quality planners are!
This year we got some new art supplies: mini half pan water color set and color pencils from Blick! Custom pencils they chose the design for from Sycamore and Main, a blank notebook that they can do whatever they wish with Massive Pencil Eraser, and something we found at the Homeschool Convention “Line Legi Liners” check them out because you will want these too!
And last but not least I always add a book for the girls basket for their grade. This year I added Tales of a Fourth Grader for Kennedy and “The Homework Machine” for Skye. I cant believe we are here back to school but excited to start this year off with some much goodness!!
xx,
me
